Aegean Region

When buying property in the Aegean Region of Turkey, there are a number of things to consider.  Located on the south-western edge of Turkey, the Aegean Region is bordered by the Marmara Region (to the North), the Central Anatolia Region (to the east), and the Mediterranean Region (to the south-east).  On the west, the Aegean Region stretches towards the Aegean Sea, creating beautiful sandy coasts and beaches.

The Aegean Region of Turkey is full of fishing harbours and small villages, lending a charming traditional feel to the area.  The Aegean Region is bordered by mountains, and has many deep valleys, allowing the sea climate to permeate the inland areas of the region, although some areas also share a more Continental climate.

As a general rule, the Aegean Region of Turkey has a mild climate, with long, hot summers, soft springs, warm autumns and warm winters, with little rain.  With the Aegean Region’s beautiful beaches and long stretches of coastline, the summer months are ideal for swimming, snorkelling and all manner of water sports.  For those travelling further inland, the more comfortable autumns and springs will show the area in its best light, and allow for comfortable travelling.  There are a number of attractions inland, including ancient ruins and picturesque countryside, something you may spend many hours exploring if you choose to buy property in the Aegean Region of Turkey.

The busier cities of the Aegean Region are concentrated on the coastline, due to it’s convenience for sea transportation and tourism.

The Aegean Region has three international airports, in Izmir, Dalaman and Bodrum, while Canakkale and Denizli airport receive flights from Istanbul.  When choosing which airport to fly into, consider where in the Aegean Region the property you wish to buy, view or visit is located.  Dalaman Airport serves the region between Marmaris and Fethiye, while Bodrum serves the Bodrum peninsula.  Izmir Airport serves the city of Izmir, Kusadasi, Ephesus, Cesme, and the surrounding region.

Property prices in Turkey and the Aegean region are still fairly low compared to much of the EU, and especially when compared to the UK.  Along the coastline, two bedroom villas and houses are available for around £20,000, and inland properties are available for cheaper prices.  Apartments near city centres can be a little more, but one bedroom apartments are still commonly available for less than £40,000.  Wherever you wish to buy property or real estate in the Aegean Region of Turkey, it’s worth shopping around.
