Mediterranean Region

The Mediterranean Region stretches along the southern edge of Turkey, and borders the Mediterranean Sea, creating sandy beaches and a fantastic atmosphere for swimming, snorkelling, and all kinds of water sports.  The Mediterranean Region of Turkey also borders four other regions of Turkey; the Central Anatolia Region in the north, the Aegean Region in the west, the Eastern Anatolia Region to the north-east, and the South-Eastern Anatolia Region to the east.

The Mediterranean Region, as its name indicates, has a warm, Mediterranean climate, with summers that rival those of Greece and Italy.  Winters in the Mediterranean Region of Turkey last from December to March, creating a relatively short season.  Climate changes in the Mediterranean Region mirror those of the nearby Aegean Region, although relatively warmer.  Those wishing to buy property in the Mediterranean Region of Turkey will find long, lazy summers, ideal for the relaxation a second or retirement home can bring.  The Mediterranean Region of Turkey is also a good place to buy property in order to rent to tourists and holidaymakers.

As with many areas of Turkey, reaching the Mediterranean Region is probably done most easily by flying into Istanbul’s international airport, and then catching a further domestic flight to an airport closer to the location of the property in Turkey you wish to buy, view or visit.  You can also travel via Turkey’s excellent bus routes, while Turkey’s railways provide yet another option.  If you are over nineteen and in possession of a drivers license, then renting a car is also possible.  An international license is not usually required to rent a car in Turkey.

Travelling by land routes rather than air may be preferable if you wish to view more areas of Turkey, or even the rest of Europe, perhaps in a view to buying property elsewhere.

Although the Mediterranean Region of Turkey is a popular tourist destination, property in the Mediterranean Region is still relatively cheap.  Modern beach front apartments are available for less than £35,000, and, as when buying property anywhere in Turkey or Europe, it is important to shop around in order to find the best prices.  Turkish property prices are still lower than in many parts of Europe and the UK, and the cost of living in Turkey is much lower than in the UK.
